ARTIST INTERVIEWS

Throughout my marketing career I’ve often found that the flashiest tech gimmicks can pale in comparison to a straightforward format where the artist can tell their story. Here are a few highlights of long-form and short-form Q&As I’ve produced over the years.

NOAH KAHAN • BUSYHEAD

In the lead-up to Noah’s debut album Busyhead, we arranged for an interview session to bring the stories behind his early songs to life. From conception, to script, to hiring, to interviewing, to maintaining visual consistency with his album art, I worked with WMA and my Republic Records team to make sure he not only had a fresh content piece for week of release, but a proving ground to showcase his wit in an extended format—and an entry point for what proved to be bigger promo for Noah down the road.

ANTHONY RAMOS • THE GOOD & THE BAD

In the lead up to his feature film debut for In The Heights, broadway actor-turned-artist Anthony Ramos had yet to treat his online fans with an uninterrupted version of his own life’s story - an essential piece of his autobiographical debut album, The Good and the Bad. Once again I worked with artist management and worked with the WMA crew to shoot and deliver track-by-track stories we ran through painstaking pre- and post-production rounds—with my personal favorite being “Dear Diary.”

From the Warner Nashville CMA showcase to SXSW, here is a visual summary of the setups, lighting, and energy in short-form content that we worked with management teams to capture during what would often be 15 minutes around their set.
